Summer Session-Frequently Asked Questions

Summer session will run in June 26th - July 17th, 2024 (Closed July 4rd & 5th).  Classes will be held from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Summer session programs are FREE for 2024; however, there may be a program fee for certain classes. Scholarships are available to eligible students. Applications and registration required.

If a program fee is necessary, funds will be collected after summer session starts.

Students entering 9 – 12^th grade in the fall of 2024 are eligible to attend summer session.

Students in the skills center consortium districts of Highline, Federal Way, Tahoma, and Tukwila are given first choice. Students from other districts may apply and will be accepted on a space-available basis once additional steps are taken to facilitate enrollment.

Yes, you will need to apply (SchoolMint ) and enroll (Highline ParentVue) online, as well as turn in a signed bus/transportation consent form (updated forms will be posted soon).

Students missing more than 1 day will receive an ‘NC’ grade and a ‘0’ credit on their HS transcript. This includes both excused and unexcused absences. No exceptions.

Yes, lunch will be provided daily.

Bus transportation will be provided for students in Highline, Federal Way, Tahoma, and Tukwila school districts from the high schools only.

No. Students are not allowed to leave campus without their parent/guardian’s permission.

If your student is carrying medication and/or has a health safety plan, please when enrolling your student complete the health section in ParentVue as submit any additional doctors directives to the school before the first day of Summer Session. Students will be authorized on campus once we receive the completed paperwork.

All summer programs are introductory so there are no prerequisites to participate.

Grades will be provided to sending schools prior to school starting in September 2024.

Yes, according to WAC 392-415-070, any high school classes attempted must be recorded on a student’s transcript. The transcript indicates that students receive 0.5 elective credit for each summer school session. Credits will be sent to the student’s sending high school registrar for adding to your transcript.

Private Pilot Ground School is also a summer program, offered through a partnership with The Museum of Flight. Instruction takes place at the Museum as well as Raisbeck Aviation High School, which is located on the campus of The Museum of Flight.  Dates of operation are TBD. Registration and all program details are coordinated by the Museum. Contact Groundschool@museumofflight.org to register.

Highline Public Schools has adopted a very specific process to enroll non-resident students wishing to access skills center programming only. Inter-District Agreements are set up to allow students to request consideration for part time enrollment or dual enrollment in two different districts at the same time.

Non-resident students requesting attendance to Highline Public Schools (HPS) for the sole purpose of enrolling in a Skills Center program are required to complete an Inter-District Agreement form for part time release. Please contact your resident district for an inter-district agreement form or contact Student Placement for any additional questions 206-631-3065.
