About the Program
Many exciting professions are based in the fields of science and health. Begin your journey now into a life-long career. Dental Assisting provides students with an introduction to professions in the field of dentistry. Dental-assisting skills are taught preparing students for entry-level job opportunities in dental offices and clinics. Classroom theory and hands-on skills are taught concurrent with clinical experience at PSSC’s on-site Sea Mar Dental Clinic, as well as internships in private dental practices. This program offers an excellent foundation for students desiring to enter post-high school pre-dental and pre-hygiene college programs in dental assisting and dental lab tech.
Approved Equivalency Credit: 0.5 English, 0.5 Health, and 0.5 Anatomy & Physiology Lab Science

Twenty-one years’ experience as a dental assistant. My chairside experience includes; excellent patient care, knowledge of tray set-up and sterilization techniques. Experience and knowledge includes clinical procedures in; general, orthodontic, periodontal, endodontic, crowns and bridges. Efficient with alginate impressions, lab procedures, expanded duties, temporaries, radiographs and digital radiography using the Dexis, and Schick digital System. Computer skills include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Dentrix dental. Twelve years of experience as a Dental Assistant Instructor at a private school.
