Health Science 1
Program Overview
Health Science 1 provides students with a broad overview of the healthcare industry, including an introduction to medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, infection control, safety practices, and basic patient care concepts. Students will also explore healthcare careers, with a strong emphasis on nursing and patient-centered care.
Through interactive classroom instruction, skills-based activities, and simulated healthcare scenarios, students will begin developing essential workplace competencies such as communication, teamwork, professionalism, and ethical decision-making. Emphasis is placed on responsibility, compassion, and accountability—core traits required in nursing and other healthcare professions.
This first year serves as the critical stepping stone toward becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant and pursuing future opportunities in nursing and other healthcare careers. Students who are passionate about helping others and interested in healthcare will gain the knowledge, confidence, and foundational skills to continue their journey in this rewarding field.
Successful completion of Health Science 1 prepares students for enrollment in the 12th grade Pre Nursing Program (CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant), where they will advance into hands-on clinical training and certification preparation.
