Teaching Academy

About the Program

New Program Starting Fall 2023

If you had the power in your school, what would you do to make education better for all students? Teaching Academy is here to help you acquire the knowledge, practice the skills and prepare yourself for a career in education.

Through Teaching Academy, you will learn how to build a strong, healthy, positive learning community, facilitate a culturally responsive classroom, galvanize the power of your own identity and language skills, close the opportunity gap in our community, support all learners in your classroom, facilitate social emotional learning activities, develop a pathway for your future career in education and get into classrooms working with actual students through internships.

This course will prepare you for a future career in education whether you plan to begin your career and/or enroll in college after high school graduation. Teaching Academy will equip you with the tools you need to pass the Paraprofessional Assessment test as well as practical experience in classrooms. Students who pass the test and graduate from high school will be eligible for a job working as an Education Support Professional with a starting wage from $22-$29 an hour with benefits. For students enrolling in college after graduation, we offer college credits.

Academic Equivalency Credits: 0.5 English
